Hello Nigel and the wonderful team at your Marble Arch Boutique. It is with the greatest pleasure and gratitude that I write this to you and anyone browsing your website.
Where to begin ?? - and no apologies for the length of this testimonial! Some things just have to be said!
Firstly I am an extremely happy, excited and grateful Nigel Rayment client from the other side of the world - in the Southern Hemisphere - Western Australia. But despite the distance, I am pleased to say that I feel like I have been friends with Nigel for a long time, thanks to his kindness.
Earlier this year in April, I was fortunate to travel overseas, my journey beginning in London, then to Gallipoli for the ANZAC Service, and from there to Tuscany, Budapest through to Amsterdam, and then back to London before returning home to Australia in June. Throughout my travels, I was intent on finding my "dream outfit" as mother of the bride, for my daughter's wedding, to be held in January 2016. Well, you would think that I would have easily found something while touring so many places! But unfortunately I had not been successful.
I should point out that in Western Australia we are very limited with real choice and variety for mothers of brides/grooms. There are no stores that I know of exclusively catering for such occasions.
As I said, at the end of my travels I had six days in London before returning home. I began to think that I would be going home without my special outfit. Sitting in my hotel room, I decided to "google" mother of bride stores in London. A few stores were listed and I looked at a couple of websites, the first being Nigel Rayment. It was quite late on the Saturday night 30 May and as my holiday was nearing the end, I decided to send a quick email saying I was looking for an outfit,etc... but was running out of time before flying home. To my surprise, I received a reply the next day, Sunday, inviting me to visit the Marble Arch store, and outlined the services available.
I decided to pay a quick visit that same day, feeling quite apprehensive, as I often lack self confidence and doubted I was going to find something suitable. When I arrived at the boutique, I was warmly welcomed by Nigel who immediately put me at ease. As I was somewhat uncertain as to what I really wanted, Nigel chatted with me, asking about the colour scheme for the wedding, the style of my daughter's gown, etc. Before long, I was relaxed, encouraged and ready to try on various styles and even willing to try on fascinators - and I am definitely not a hat person! So this was all new to me, but with Nigel's guidance, patience and kindness, I tried on several designs, knowing it was going to be difficult to choose.
I am by nature very emotional and couldn't believe that I was actually trying on such lovely outfits. Nigel then suggested that I try a John Charles dress and jacket. It fitted perfectly! No alterations necessary! Well, THAT WAS IT! I was overcome and started to cry when I looked in the mirror. How could that be me? Nigel was so kind and understood exactly how I was feeling. You see, I am a sole parent, raising my daughter and son alone. It is with the greatest pride that I will be walking my beautiful daughter down the aisle to her wonderful future husband, so my outfit is very important to me. I realised then that I had travelled thousands of miles and thanks to Nigel I had found the perfect dress and fascinator.
Nigel then took some photos of me in a couple of dresses and he suggested that he email them to my daughter to get her opinion/input. How incredibly thoughtful! I must admit that I hate having my photo taken, but Nigel encouraged me and said it would be nice for my daughter to see me in the dresses. In Perth, Western Australia, customers are forbidden from taking any photos in bridal stores or boutiques. In fact there are signs displayed saying use of phones, cameras, etc, are not allowed.
I left the store telling Nigel that I would wait to hear from my daughter. Obviously with the time difference I had an anxious wait. My daughter then replied with delight that she liked both, but particularly loved the John Charles outfit, which was my favourite too. So the decision was made. I contacted Nigel who immediately responded with the offer to put aside the dress and the fascinator. Unfortunately at the end of my travels, funds were low, so Nigel was quite happy for me to place my outfit on layby, before flying home to Australia.
I have now completed my payments and Nigel is arranging to ship my outfit to me. I cannot begin to thank Nigel and staff enough. Since I have been back home, I have been in touch with Nigel and Jess, who always respond immediately to any emails or queries.
I can honestly say that I have never received such fantastic service and attention to detail. Nothing was ever too much trouble and I was made to feel special.
I now eagerly await the delivery of my beautiful Nigel Rayment John Charles designer outfit. I have never purchased anything so lovely and can't wait for the big day. I know the day will come and go and there will be tears of joy and happiness, memories and many, many photos!
As we prepare and dress on the actual day, I will be filled with love and pride as I watch my daughter get ready. I also know that I will be thinking of that special day in London when I visited the Nigel Rayment Boutique, thousands of miles from home and left with Nigel's kind words, a boost to my self-confidence and my dream outfit that I will wear on the most wonderful special day in my daughter's life.
I recommend to anyone looking for that special dream outfit that you will look no further than Nigel Rayment!
Thank you again Nigel! Fondest regards and best wishes to you and all your team.
