The Middleton Effect Nigel Rayment says the Royal Wedding has had a huge effect on the hat trends which has continued into 2013. We have found that since the Middleton’s came into the media, the disc styles have taken over from the large hats. These discs are on a head band and are so comfortable to wear. And great for photos as you can see the face clearly! It’s really important to make sure that, whatever you wear its not too overpowering and you personally feel good. If a mum buys an outfit separately from their hat, they often have a problem finding a perfect match, but Nigel has the answer: in our London boutique mums can buy all the occasion wear brands and get a hat made to measure and dyed to perfectly match any colour. Mum has been over for nearly a month visiting and we have done a lot of 'the circuit' for Mother of the Bride dresses with little luck and some downright awful experiences. Dear Mr. Rayment, I feel that I must tell you of the most amazing experience that I have received from your boutique in London. I live in Jersey and the choice is very limited to say the least. My daughter booked a flight to come to London to look for an outfit hat shoes and bag and we where prepared to walk the length of London to find what I needed to make my feel great on the day. We started at your boutique as your name came up first on Google for mother of the bride shops. I was greeted with a great big smile and a young girl made us tea while the sales assistant talked in length about what I liked and also what I had in mind. I was taken around a shop exploding with outfits in all shapes colours and sizes all with matching accessories. I was in the shop for 2 hours and didn’t once feel pressurized to buy or in anyway asked to leave as the shop was so busy all 4 changing rooms where full and other mums queuing. I was still indecisive as it was the first shop that we had visited and I really wanted to take a look in Selfridges and Harrods isn’t that the first place you think of for an outstanding outfit and service? I was applaud buy the lack of choice and also the customer service was so horendous that we had lunch in Oxford Street and within a 5 min walk we where back in your shop and purchased everything under one roof. When the young girl came upstairs with a dress hat shoes and bag all boxed I said to my daughter we will never get this back on the flight. I was then told that you send all your outfits to Jersey in fact any destination free of charge. I was astounded at this service and within 24hrs the boxes arrived in pristine condition. I can’t thank Nigel enough for the warm instantly answered emails and his staff are the best in retail I have ever experienced so my final message is to mums that are thinking of traveling to London just do it take the plunge as you won’t get better anywhere else.

As this was the occasion of my daughter's wedding I knew I had to 'get it right!’

I had researched the designers I was interested in and no shops in Cambridge shire seemed to stock them all. Then I discovered Nigel Rayment's website and knew I had found the right one. The website promised everything in the one shop - so important when you want the whole outfit to look good.

I felt quite nervous when I approached the shop as I had never bought such a special outfit before. Upon entering, it became clear that I need not have worried. I and my daughters were greeted very warmly, shown the locations of the outfits I was interested in and left to browse for a while. When I tried on my favorites, I realized that some weren't right at all and it was then that the expertise of Jackie came to the fore, suggesting outfits I should try and giving gentle feedback. She always appreciated the colour scheme and listened to my point of view and just seemed to know the best style for me - according to my daughters and husband she was spot on! It was just the same with the hat - Jackie brought many styles for me to try but she always gave me very valuable guidance, whilst allowing me to come to my own decision. Nothing seemed too much trouble to her.

I was also very appreciative of the skills of Cathy, who has made my dress fit like a glove without a stitch in sight. She did the alterations very quickly and passed on some useful advice regarding care of the outfit.

Everyone working at Nigel Rayment has been friendly, professional and above all helpful. I never felt rushed or coerced into buying anything; it has been a lovely experience. I have made 3 visits in all and more and more I've felt like I'm visiting old friends.

I can't wait for my other daughter to get married so that I can come again!

 Dear Nigel I made the trip from Cambridge after you answered my email enquiries. I was finding it difficult to get size 8 in the John Charles 2013 collection. My friend and I had a lovely day at your boutique trying on all the styles I had loved from your website. Thank you to Cathy who was very helpful with fitting and finding the perfect shoes and bag to match the outfit. Also to Jackie who allowed my outfit to be removed from the mannequin as it was the only size left to fit me. My husband and family loved my final choice and I cannot wait for my sons wedding to wear it. We travelled home by train with our spirits lifted and NR bags and boxes at our feet. Hi Nigel, There are plenty of 'mother of the bride' shops nearby in the North. However what are missing are shops which have the range and sizes. They seemed to have a few styles for each designer but not the range that I experienced today. Nor did they have the accessories which make the outfit so perfect, they tended to stock shoes to try on outfits but did not sell anything like the quality accessories which you stock. I did a lot of research before deciding to come to you but it was your website which drew me as it emphasizes customer care and your prompt warm e mails encouraged me to travel the distance. Despite the weather, I left London feeling so happy! Jackie was truly amazing. Her attention to my needs from the moment I entered the shop was exemplary. She sensitively made suggestions and comments which were at all times very helpful. I had the sense that she would not have sold me something which did not look good. The service which included offering appropriately matched shoes, bag and fascinator, all of which I chose to purchase, was outstanding. Jess also played her part in creating a joyous experience and she too deserves a mention. Right down to the packaging, care about plastic bags because of the weather, suggestions for a great lunch all added to a day we will not forget. My sincere thanks to you too for the sensitive and welcoming e mails sent prior to my visit. Perhaps you would be so kind as to pass on my compliments to your staff.  Imagine the scene - I live in Sydney, Australia and needed an outfit for my step-daughter's winter wedding in London in January 2013. Fashions were in full summer mode in Australia and left me no option but to purchase my outfit in the UK. My arrival in London was one week prior to the wedding and I was horrified at the prospect of finding something suitable amongst all the January sales and needing possible alterations as is normally the case with me. My Internet searches (from Australia) linked me quickly to the Nigel Rayment Boutique website which I found extremely informative and easy to browse. I contacted Nigel two weeks before my departure to London and was amazed at the speed of response and the friendliness and helpfulness. I visited the boutique last Saturday feeling somewhat anxious but knowing that this was my starting place in my search for a suitable outfit. Cathy assisted me and I can never thank her enough for her advice and patient demeanor. I tried on several outfits but returned to the one that Cathy had initially suggested. It's absolutely gorgeous and Cathy's addition of some little colour co-coordinated feathers to a fascinator finish off the outfit perfectly. Nothing was too much trouble for Cathy together with some alterations that were expedited almost immediately. A huge 'thank you' to Nigel and all the staff members that I met but especially to Cathy who I will always think of whenever I wear my beautiful outfit.
